The Lion King (Broadway)

The Lion King with music by Tim RiceElton John, book by Roger Allers, Irene Mecchi and lyrics by: Tim RiceElton John opened at the New Amsterdam Theatre on November 13, 1997, and ran until June 04, 2006, before transferring to the Minskoff Theatre.

Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions by Peter Schneider and Thomas Schumacher.

Directed by Julie Taymor; Choreographed by Garth Fagan; Scenic Design by Richard Hudson; Costume Design by Julie Taymor; Lighting Design by Donald Holder; Mask and Puppet Design by Julie Taymor and Michael Curry; Sound Design by Tony Meola; Hair  & Make-Up Design by Michael Ward; Projection Design by Geoff Puckett.

I developed and implemented a launch campaign for Disney on Broadway for Beauty and the Beast, Elton John & Tim Rice’s AIDA and The Lion King featuring around-the-world contests and extensive guerrilla marketing including the first every video email, to supplement their existing marketing efforts.

As Founder and CEO of and  The pioneer in moving the Broadway industry onto the internet.  What started in 1989 as a service called ShowCall via dialup BBS for members of the League of American Theatre Producers evolved onto the world wide web in 1993, and shortly after this,  the vast majority of Broadway shows (starting with Victor/Victoria) and theatrical organizations followed.
